Sponsored by the IEEE Visualization and Graphics Technical Committee

Following the great success of the first IEEE Pacific Visualization Symposium held in Kyoto, Japan, in March 2008, we are excited to announce the Pacific Visualization Symposium 2009, which will take place in Beijing, China. PacificVis is an IEEE VGTC sponsored international visualization symposium held in the Asian-Pacific region, with the objective to foster greater exchange between visualization researchers and practitioners, and to draw more researchers in the Asian-Pacific region to enter this rapidly growing area of research. Papers are solicited that present original and unpublished research and practical applications in all areas of visualization including, but not limited to:

  • Feature extraction
  • Flow visualization
  • GPU based visualization
  • Graph drawing
  • Information visualization
  • Large data visualization
  • Illustration techniques
  • Multi-field visualization
  • Multi-resolution techniques
  • Parallel visualization
  • Perception in visualization
  • Software visualization
  • Time-varying visualization
  • Usability and visualization systems
  • Uncertainty visualization
  • Vector/Tensor field visualization
  • Visual analytics
  • Visualization applications
  • Visual-based knowledge discovery
  • Visual data mining
  • Volume visualization and modeling

All regular submissions will undergo a rigorous review by the International Program Committee and papers accepted to PacificVis will appear in the symposium proceedings published by IEEE VGTC. In addition, authors of those papers of particularly outstanding quality will be invited to submit an extended version of their papers to IEEE Transactions of Visualization and Computer Graphics.

Submissions for PacificVis 2009 must be made electronically through the SRM online submission and review management system at http://egmcp1.cgv.tugraz.at/SRM_IEEE_PVIS09 following the submission guidelines http://egmcp1.cgv.tugraz.at/SRM_IEEE_PVIS09/subinstructions.html. Papers may be up to 8 pages long and must be formatted according to the VGTC guidelines given at: http://www.cs.sfu.ca/~vis/Tasks/camera.html . Please note that PacificVis 2009 uses a double blind reviewing approach, so please remove all personal data (like author, affiliation etc.) from your submission!
